Keep enough supplies in your home to survive on your own for at least three days.  If possible, keep these materials in an easily accessible, separate container or special cupboard.  You should indicate to your household members that these supplies are for emergencies only.

1. One Gallon of drinking water per person per day

2. Non- perishable, ready to eat canned foods and manual can opener

3. First aid kit, medications and prescriptions

4. Flashlight, battery operated AM/FM radio and extra batteries

5. Whistle

6. One quart of unscented bleach or iodine tablets (for disinfecting water ONLY if directed to do so by health officials) and eye dropper (for adding bleach to water)

7. Personal hygiene items: soap, feminine hygiene products, toothbrush and tooth paste, etc.

8. Sturdy shoes, heavy gloves, warm clothes, a mylar blanket and lightweight raingear.

9. Extra fire extinguisher, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors

10. Child care supplies or other special care items

11. Pet food and supplies

12. Other supplies and tools
